nostalgic

Today my friend came over and handed me a little bag.  It was a gift from her trip.
She and her kids came back last week from her Korea visit that lasted for two months.

It's a beautiful figurine where a sister is carrying her little baby brother on her back with her white Korean shoes called Gomusin.  It made me a bit nostalgic. It reminds me of my favorite Korean Artist Kim young hee and her earlier art work.

The little baby carrier called Podaegi is a common thing in Korea.  All the mothers and grandmothers carry their babies on their back and cover them up with Podaegi.

I remember when Christina had a toy Podaegi that she carried her baby dolls on her back when she was little.  I try to carry my kids when they were born but I just couldn't make it work.  I ended up carrying them on my side of hips ......  maybe someday!

Thanks Inyoung!  You are such a sweet friend.

christmas ?

Is it Christmas season already and don't know it? It feels that way.
It has been an awesome week .
I didn't realize how many people all over the world care about us. Wonderful people who I never met in face to face. Yet, they are with us in ours hearts. If someone told me when I first started Etsy back in 2006 that I'll have wonderful people who will care for me and my family,
I wouldn't have believed it at all.
Etsy has been a beautiful friendship tool for me for last few years.
It's over whelming how many people are there for us through Etsy.
Thank you so much everyone. I'm speechless.

Thank you Paivi for an inspiring summer package for our family.

Meena said hi :-)

Yes, It made me smile♥

Thank you so much dear friends. You'll always in our hearts.

milk tea + cake

A few weeks ago I read milk tea and Ako posted a yummy chiffon cake made with Earl Grey tea. and she was kind enough to add the recipe for me :-)

It took me awhile to measure and convert the whole recipe but it was the yummiest cake ever.
I didn't had a cake like that for years. It was wonderful.
Have you ever had an experience that the taste can bring out your old memory that you have forgotten about? That's what exactly happen to me.

When I was a little girl my mom had a friend who loves to bake. Every time we visit she would bake the chiffon cake for us. She didn't have a big oven but I l still remember the yummy taste.
This cake was her cake. I remember she was a widow with a son and lived in a small house but she was the most happy person ever known. I guess her son is in his 40s by now.
Wow where all the time go. It makes me pretty darn OLD today :-)

I made some Finish Summer Soup.
Last summer Paivi sent me a wonderful book about food and culture of Finland.
I didn't have any peas at home so had to skip it but it turned out great. It was SOOOOOOO good. My husband was making sure that I had plenty of left overs for tomorrow.
I think it will be a wonderful lunch for us.
