When I was about 10. I made myself a paper and yarn string guitar to play with. I guess it looked very pathetic to my parents. One day I got a guitar from my parents and had a chance to take lessons. It was great. I think I played on and off until I was in my teens. Soon after I came to US I didn't have chance to play it at all. I guess it has been almost 20 years. But after I saw the movie ONCE. It changed everything. I was a little girl again who fell in love with the guitar.
Glen Hansard was just brilliant.
I guess when you fell in love with something you always go back to your true love. Like the movie. Despite of my age and long Long LONG period of lack of practice, I got myself a Guitar. I LOVE IT. It was just great to feel the wires on my fingertips again. I soon remember the pain after I played for just a few minutes. I thought I was getting blisters on my finger tips. It has been 2 weeks since I got my guitar but I’m just thrilled to play it everyday.
I got Glen and Mar’s earlier CD the Swell Season. I'm trying to play all the songs from movie ONCE. I guess I spend too much time playing with my new guitar everyday for last few weeks but what can I say. I'm having a blast. I know I'll NEVER be as good as Glen but I'm just glad to play his music even it's just a chord to a chord.
The movie ONCE gave me back my sweet memories . I'm totally Happy.
